I have been very good recently, I have put off reading the second Mayfair Witches novel, been actively working on the plot and character for my story and last but certainly not least I have enrolled with the OU to finish my degree! How excellent is that. I've have felt a lull lately in my life, happy as I am to be at home with my youngest during school term, it is rather mind numbing. I've been itching to read more and write for a few months now. Hell, I even helped my sister with her dissertation (she passed with excellent marks - Well done Sarah!). So I believe this will be good for me, of course I will be missing out on the actual university experience but that doesn't really worry me. I don't think neither of us (my daughter and I) would cope to be apart from eachother during the day, so at least this enables me to keep my brain active whilst still having fun at home.
In real news, my darling Mr has recently had a pay rise, becoming quite the career for him this is. I am very proud of him for working 50 + hours a week to keep this family in food and holidays. So no worries about me having to go into employment until a nursery place becomes available for my Little Miss. Who'd have thought, we always assumed I would be the higher earner, but where he is even now will take me a few years to catch up to even with qualifications and possibly not even then as he has the potential to out earn me forever in just a few short years.
The grandparent-in-laws are coming up from Great Yarmouth (South East for those who don't know how to use Google Maps), so that will be a fun and interesting weekend. I know many of my mummy friends despise their In Laws, but I in that respect am very lucky, mine are very polite and careful even after 7 years!
That reminds me, wedding plans seem to be in full swing now, watch this space!

Uh oh
broke one of my rules already! I am currently at the end of Anne Rice's novel The Witching Hour, the first in the series about the Mayfair Witches. It is actually a very absorbing read! My sister has the second book which I will pilfer later in the week. I'm not generally a 'gothic' person in either my lifestyle or the books I read, but Mrs Rice always seems to capture me with her plot and language. So for a little while longer at least, I'll be upholding this rebellion against 'my rules'.
In other news, I managed to jot some things down today. Nothing worthy of noting here, but it certainly is a start! Especially considering my usual daily mummy duties.

So, here I am
with my first post. The main objective of this blog is for me to try to regain some semblance of the writing skills I once possessed. To get the creative juices flowing so to speak. Children are such a joy, but I find myself dwindling in motivation, I need to bring myself back, it seems I have been in this limbo for a long period of time. Now the first year is over I am starting to think of hobbies we can take up that gets us out someplace different and near actual human beings.
Current Plan of Action
Current Plan of Action
- Find some new child friendly hobbies; even if it is simply baby groups
- Take a notebook most places to jot down descriptions/ideas
- Find time to read real books not Anne Rice or Chick Lit
